Spent my Sunday (5.30am till 12 midnight) accompanying my loveliest friend @steffyduffyy for her wedding as one of her bridesmaids! #JStephweds
It was a mad frenzy from the moment I climbed out of bed in the morning but everything went smoothly as can be and my friend is now a happily married Mrs.
My mind and body is still in the midst of recovering from yesterday but I'll update all of the wedding happenings before today ends!
Rolled out of bed at 5.30am to start prepping my makeup and hair because the meeting time was stipulated to be 6.30am at the bride's.
It was a good thing that her house is so near ZL's… Just one street away! So I crashed at his place the night before to get 30 minutes more sleep. Lol.
Helped out with the usual prep work for gatecrash even though my mind was still 70% asleep.
Meanwhile, the main lead of the day was looking super chirpy and awake!
Daz the most important right? The rest of us look tired and cui also never mind. The bride needs to be the prettiest on her big day!
I was being tasked by the bride to do an IG takeover for the day. Hahaha. I was like, hey of course no problem I'm damn good at spamming photos on IG one leh. 😂 The bride chose well. I don't think she has ever posted that many photos on her IG within a day.
Her dress is just 😍😍😍
Group shot of the bridesmaids + brideservant LOL and Steph's brother!
We waited a tad too long for the groom and his brothers because they were late. Tsk tsk. The gatecrash games had to be cut short but I think most of the important aspects were covered – such as amassing a decent amount of gatecrash angbao money. Hahaha.
And yes bridesmaids tops sponsored by #TTR. Because how can I not, right? ☺️
We took quite a few photos while waiting for the games to start because we had almost 30 minutes to kill.
It's actually my second time being a bridesmaid for a friend! This time round, I was the "odd one out" because the rest of the bridal party knew each other since they were kids. Hahaha.
I'm your friend who popped out of nowhere leh @steffyduffyy. 😂
But they are warm and nice people who made me feel welcomed!! So it wasn't weird/awkward at all. In fact, I quite enjoyed the company I had.
This bride was doing her surveillance over Skype convos. And she very strict one please. Kept asking them to redo until she happy.
Oh well. Bride 最大 so they no choice. Hahaha.
Face so glum because they had to down raw bittergourd with ultra bitter herbal paste as dips.
Sorry not sorry guys. Hahaha.
Is it 强颜欢笑 😂😂😂
After half an hour of torment later… GROOM GOT THE KEY! 🎉
At the gym, BRB!!
Okay I've about 10 minutes to chiong my update while my matcha brownies are sitting in the oven.
The "fun shot" requested by the photographer.
It's so funny that every time the photog calls out "fun shot!", most of us naturally opt for the ✌🏻️ pose. Hahahahah. Not enough response time to think of other poses la. Not xmm already please.
It was a mighty long drive to the groom's because one stays Pasir Ris one stays Jurong.
Omilord. Is it LDR???!
The drive took close to 40 minutes. One way only. Hahahaha. Really no joke please.
We made a stop at Chinese Garden to take some shots of the bridal party! Since already at Jurong… Might as well right?
Trooping around in a wedding dress is a tough job.
It was a good thing that the weather was close to perfect. Cloudy with no rain and sun. But we were all perspiring like crazy despite the good grace given by the weather. Can't imagine if the sun was out in full force.
So sweet hehe 😍
Stole some shots from the back while the photographer shot them from the other side.
Awwwwww something about this photo makes me very happy 😊😊😊
Uhhhhhh hi guys I caught the bouquet 😳
Because most of the other bridesmaids are married. And the bouquet did two flying dives and smashed on the floor because nobody wanted to catch it. Once was because our Hercules bride threw it so far and high that nobody could catch it. Hahahah.
So I told ZL that I caught the bouquet and he asked what's the significance of it.
👦🏻: Means you're the next in line to get married ah? Is it?
👧🏼: Urmmm yes I think that's the general meaning 😬
👦🏻: So when are you proposing to me?
Because the bride needs her kopi. Whatever the bride wants, the bride gets.
End of a successful gatecrash calls for a photo with the bride!
I think everyone just wants any chance that they can grab to take a photo with the bride la actually. Hahaha.
Fast forward to the banquet dinner held at Pan Pac!
I wasn't aware that there are two Pan Pacs in Singapore and went to the wrong one initially. Good thing I realised before I turned into the carpark and rerouted my GPS.
What would I do without my GPS. Lol.
Got there slightly late due to an unfortunate incident so I didn't get to help set this up. The other girls did a great job though!
Stole some time for a selfie before the guests came streaming in. Hehe.
Of course need to take another photo with the pretty bride before march in!
And also, of the bride.
Not forgetting a selfie with the bride too!!
Saw a few of my friends at the dinner too!!
👋🏻 @wendyx @felicianeo @deborahpar @ceejayam
Accidentally overexposed shot but I thought it was nice nonetheless.
Really happy for my friends Steph and JS! @steffyduffyy 😘😘😘 8 years sure ain't easy but they made it seem so. May it be happily ever after for you guys! 💋❤️
Also want to Dayre about this. An unfortunate incident happened to my car on the way back to the bride's house yesterday and my side mirror flew off.
It was a stroke of bad luck but good thing the mirror casing was intact and the retracting mechanism still worked well.
So I actually had to drive all the way back to Pasir Ris without the left side mirror and it was quite a scary experience because I couldn't see oncoming traffic on the left which made changing lanes difficult.
Anyway, we got back to Pasir Ris safely and I wanted to get the mirror fixed so that I can continue with the plans for the day.
Gave ZL a call to see if he knows of any workshops open around the area since he stays there. Didn't wanna risk driving too far without a side mirror because it was so dangerous. 😨
So he rode over to get me from Steph's place and he actually suggested a couple of options, one which would involve him having to accompany me all the way back to AMK on his bike so that he could sort of pave the way for my car so that I wouldn't have to use my side mirror much.
In the end he managed to find a workshop which opens on a Sunday and got them to order in a mirror to replace my missing one within two hours.
He checked for the "market price" of getting a mirror replaced to make sure that I don't end up paying for more than what's necessary.
And he also drove me to and from the workshop for the diagnosis and the fixing of the mirror and made sure that everything was settled in time for the dinner banquet at night.
I was honestly quite touched that he did all these for me because I only asked him if he knew of any workshops nearby? 😭
So anyway I texted him to thank him for it at the end of the night and he was all nonchalant about it. As always. Hahaha.
I like saying "thank you" to him for sending me home/paying for dinner/paying for movie/random stuff but he always replies in a more formal/awkward tone so idk if he feels weird whenever I thank him. Lol. Maybe I'll go ask him and sees what he says.
I really think these seemingly small gestures in a relationship shouldn't be taken for granted.
It's true that the longer you're together, the more you get immune to all these small acts of love from your partner.
I never feel that that are certain things that he SHOULD do for me as a boyfriend. So whenever he does them, I feel extra thankful and I guess saying thank you is a way to also remind myself that I'm lucky having someone do all that for me.
It's the small things that matter.
