Monday's off to a great start cause I woke up to my favourite face. I really like gazing at him sleepily. Is that TMI?? Okay yes it is. Hahaha.

Had the best weekend cause I got to spend quality time with the sisters and my favourite face.

πŸ€—

Another crazy week packed to the brim with work and meetups with friends. But I'm all ready to take on the week!!

Have a great Monday with zero blues, you guys!!

Side note: #TTR online warehouse sale is still ongoing!! Ending tonight at 1159pm so hurry over if you haven't already gotten yourselves pieces at a great, great steal!

Had an awesome celebration with my favourite face and he loved the Someone's Birthday Cake! πŸŽ‚

We cut it open the moment the clock struck 12.

He actually wanted to have the cake BEFORE 12 once I reached his place, but I vehemently refused to let him.

"Eh I feel like eating the cake now…"

"NO!! Cannot!!"

"Huh why?"

"Cause it's not your birthday yet. You can only have it after 12!"

"Huh serious ah? But I feel like eating it now."

"Noooo let's go out for dinner faster."

The candle app failed on me so no candles for the birthday boy.

But I managed to dig out a random candle from home and lit up for him the next day to make up for it. πŸ’‘

Birthday eve dinner was at The Beast because we wanted to utilise the Entertainer app.

And we happened to walk past where we had dinner at for our first ever date! LOL. So nostalgic, looking back on it. Hahaha. The initial stage of getting to know each other was fun but nothing beats the comfort level that we have with each other now.

We eventually ended up at The Beast for dinner although I initially planned to take him to Burger Joint since he loves burgers.

But The Beast was a good choice! We both enjoyed the meal tremendously. 😌

#JoyceisEntertained

Love the laidback casual ambience of the place. It was practically empty since we went during midweek.

Our table was right in front of this spot and we got the waiter to take a photo of us here after the meal.

πŸ’‘

It's funny how we don't usually take photos together when we're not travelling. I can count with one hand the number of selfies we took. LOL.

Sometimes idk what's the point of posting our photos since you guys can't see his face also. Hahaha. Sorry guys. He shy la. πŸ˜‚

We ordered soft shell crab for the appetiser… There were a few other dishes which looked pretty interesting too but we wanted to save space for desserts (and cake!!).

This was pretty dope tho. I love that it came with mango salsa at the side!

I can't remember how the sauce tasted like already… Hahaha.

And since Symmetry (where we went for our first date) was just right across the road, we had a short conversation about it.

"Eh do you remember what dishes we ordered or how the food tasted like?? I can't remember leh."

"Cause you were too infatuated with me la…"

"No I wasn't πŸ˜’ what did we talk about over dinner?"

"We talked about your work at TTR."

"Is it??? How come I totally don't remember….?"

"Told you already what. You were falling madly in love that's why everything also don't remember."

The star of the night goes to… the Pork Collar dish!!!

This dish alone made The Beast ZL's favourite restaurant. Hahaha.

So good that we finished every bit!

Swordfish Collar which was well worth the money even without the Entertainer deal. But the Pork Collar still had our hearts. ❀️❀️

And the pre-birthday meal only cost us $49ish after using the one-for-one!

ENTERTAINER APP IS REALLY DAMN AWESOME.

Dinner came up at slightly less than $50 for 3 dishes! Woohoo.

After dinner, we popped by Twenty Grammes for something sweet. North Bridge Road was nearby so we took a short stroll.

And then I remembered, we also went to Twenty Grammes on our first date but the other outlet! 😌 Such serendipity. It was like semi reliving our first date all over again.

Can't remember what flavours we got but never mind… Ice cream was not the main point. The main point was my birthday boy. ❀️ Hahahahaha.

And then it was back to his place, where we had chocolate cake and unwrapped presents after counting down 3….. 2…..1!!

On Someone's actual birthday, he had work. So we met after work and he came over to play with my furry baby for a bit before we headed out for whatever I planned!

He actually told me not to plan anything and that even if I brought him out for dinner, he wanted something simple.

Simple ζ˜―δ»€δΉˆζ₯ηš„ 😩😩😩

I think simple is more difficult to plan compared to extravagant or something out of the box.

See. Is it making my life difficult. Want hot air somemore. Sigh x 10000000 hahaha.

On one hand it's good that he's so easily contented but on the other, I would rather we go have something nice since birthday is once a year.

Since we had something nice for his birthday eve dinner, I gave in and told him we were gonna have his favourite hokkien mee for dinner.

What birthday boy wants, birthday boy gets. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ŒπŸ»

My dad also loves the hokkien mee from this stall to death. Forever never ending one the queue. If you stay in the same area as I do, you'll probably know. It's at the Ang Mo Kio 409 market! The stall facing the main road.

I like it even better than the famous Chomp Chomp one I've been having since young!

I wanted to spring Night Safari on him as a surprise after dinner. Initially I thought of blindfolding him LOL IKR but dismissed that thought since he most likely won't cooperate anyway.

But my problems were solved because he promptly fell asleep in the car. Hahahaha. ✌🏻

Thought that Night Safari would be a perfect after dinner plan because he would probably be expecting me to bring him out to a nice dinner place where we would spend a couple of hours enjoying the food and then chilling somewhere quiet after that.

BUT NOPE. I think I threw him off course with hokkien mee. 😏 Hahaha.

I even switched off the voice navigation on google maps in case he woke up halfway.

He was really surprised when I parked the car and woke him up.

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

So I guess I delivered what he asked for… Hawker (hokkien mee) and hot air (Night Safari)! βœ”οΈ

Anddd we're here!! I might even be more excited than ZL because I've never been to the Night Safari. Hahaha. πŸ™ƒ

But anyway. If it's your birthday (or within 7 days from your birthday), you get free entry if you visit with a paying adult! So it's one for one la technically.

I think it applies to the Zoo and River Safari too!

So we only paid $48 or maybe $49 excluding the tram tickets! We didn't get the tram tickets cause I wanted to walk hahahaha.

Creatures of The Night show was mad packed! I thought there would be less crowd since it was a weekday night but I guess most of them were tourists.

Show was underwhelming and only 25 minutes. I think the shows at the Zoo were a lot more interesting!

The spotted hyena doing tricks but we couldn't really see from our end of the spectator stand. The best seats are right in the middle but I think they got reserved for school kids on excursion. Lol.

White raccoon!! So cute!! 😍

It was quite easy to navigate around the park.. Just follow the signs for the different trails and there would also be park rangers standing at every junction to guide you and make sure you don't wander onto the tram trails.

Thank god it was breezy that day, which made walking about a really pleasant affair.

He says I'm always sneakily taking photos he doesn't even know about. LOL. Daz right. πŸ˜‚

This tiger was really feisty. It kept growling at people and swiping it's paw against the glass. 🐯

It kept us entertained with it's antics for a good few minutes until it decided it has had enough. Hahaha. Lazy cat goes back to being lazy.

The trails were all dimly lit and sheltered by trees. There weren't many people as we walked along though. I think most visitors opted to take the tram.

We actually missed out on the elephants and a few other animals cause they were along the tram only trail. But okay la… By the time we were done with all the walking trails it was already time to head home. Night Safari closes at midnight and we entered only at 8.15.

They have specific timings for admission so please check that out if you're planning to head there!

The scariest place of all is the mangrove walk. You get the chance to get up close and personal with BATS.

It's an open enclosure so the bats are just flapping all over the place. And I was screaming and ducking all over the place.

They looked really grotesque okay!! Especially when they extend their leathery looking wings. Gulps.

πŸ˜¨πŸ˜¨πŸ˜¨πŸ¦‡

One of the last few animals we saw that night – spiky porcupines!

Oh and we also got to feed the otters because this park ranger offered his bucket of carrots to us. Hehe. That was fun! All the otters immediately stood at attention once they saw the food. Smart fellas!

It makes me happy to see him happy. To him birthdays are just another day but I'm glad he had a good one. πŸ™‚
