Came back with my batteries recharged after a good 3 day break from life, this rectangular screen and social media. 🤗
It was good 36 hours away from (I wanted to say civilisation LOL but it wasn't that bad) the distractions of every day life and technology.
My phone usage was so minimal and I didn't even really take many photos. Much less IG worthy photos. 😂
It was one of those vacations where I didn't care if I used the same lipstick colour three days in a row, or if my hair looked absolutely shit, or that I didn't finish all 10 steps of my skincare routine. Super laidback and chill couple of days! 😌
I was so happy to be doing nothing.
A 10 hour bus journey brought us to 21 deg C weather! ⛄️ Comfortably cold enough for us. I dressed very minimally in hoodie, jeans and slippers! Wore shorts one day and almost froze to death on our rented bike. Bad choice.
Idk where is Hulu Telom, we were at Cameron Highlands. 😂
Our meals were kept simple and tasted homely, mostly zi char style.
Btw, this meal was super affordable. 2 SGD for the bittergourd egg, and it came with bits of prawns too.
The hor fun had the most awesome wok hei to it and the squid batter was so crispy with the slightest hint of curry flavour. Such a good meal we had!
Getting around was a breeze (both literally and figuratively) cause we rented a bike, albeit a very old and cranky one. 😂 There were a few times when we were afraid it was gonna roll back while going up steep slopes but thankfully it pulled through.
We managed to go around the different parts of Cameron pretty easily at our own timing. Cabs aren't really easy to flag down in Cameron and we aren't fans of guided tours. So renting a bike is the perf way to travel for us! ☺️
It was really enjoyable riding around Cameron because the air was so fresh and cooling.
There was one night we rode back to the hotel after getting a really good foot massage, and I saw the entire night sky dotted with stars. That was such an amazing sight. 😍
Another plus point of the bike – we get to stop anywhere along the road to admire the view/snap photos!
Our petrol cost only came up to…….
$1.50RM for the first day and $3RM ($1 SGD) for 2 days of travelling. 😂😂😂
The only sunset we caught.
It was a rainy few days in Cameron so we didn't catch any crazily beautiful sunsets there. But this was good enough. I count my mini blessings too. And! We totally didn't get caught in the rain at all. Neither did the rain mess up our plans. The timings all fell nicely into place. 🙂
We did random things like observing the different kinds of cacti.
Watching vegetables grow.
This is your typical red coral which can be found at supermarkets.
Butterhead lettuce which resemble roses. 😍 So cute!
Grabbing drinks at local cafes.
There's honestly nothing fancy about Cameron Highlands.
It's a rather simple and laidback place which might not appeal to most people as a destination to travel to.
But I like it. ☺️
My second favourite bit of the trip – a visit to the BOH tea plantation!
They have this pretty little glasshouse cafe nestled on the edge on a mountain top, overlooking a sprawling view of tea plantations and vast greenery. 🍃
Needless to say, this place was spilling over with tourists. Hahaha. But I would still give this a go. The view is really tdf!!
The food and drinks on the other hand… Not so tdf. LOL.
We sat there for quite some time, just talking and taking in all that beauty in front of us. ❤️
The most memorable and my favourite part of the trip for me happened right here but that shall be reserved for my own memory. 💕😌
ZL be like – why you always taking sneaky shots that I don't even know exist? 😂
My biggest takeaway for this trip – find someone whom you can feel absolutely happy and comfortable doing nothing with.
The long bus rides to and fro didn't feel that long actually.
We cuddled and slept – I slept a little, he slept most of the journey there LOL, listened to music, buried my head in my Kindle while he slept (he's so fascinated by that fact that I can be occupied by books for such long hours 😂), talked about the most random things, attempted to watch Gotham on my phone until it got too shaky for our eyes to handle, snacked a lil, blanked out while staring out of the bus window.
I'll happily do a 20 hour bus ride, even. (Although I'm sure he'll vehemently disagree to that hahahaha.)
It was a good, short trip and I can't wait to explore more of this world with him. ✨💕
