It still feels weird, thinking of myself as a 28 year old.
I feel old, but not wise enough.
I feel young at heart, but not unburdened enough.
Not quite the big 30 but I don't feel like I'm in my twenties anymore.
Such a conflicting age, 28 is. Haha.
But anyway. Turning 28 was a merry affair. The celebrations were with people I love and that's all that matters. ❤️
I have a feeling that this is going to go down as an extremely long post… LOL.
Last Friday started as normal as can be.
Until I got ambushed by a home baked cake by my dearest Audrey and a burst of birthday song followed by the office girls marching into my office in the midst of my meeting with Lyds! 😂
It was truly surprising because I wasn't expecting it to come so early. Hahaha. Apparently it was obvious when everyone started creeping out of the room but I was as usual, oblivious to whatever was happening around me. Haha.
We're blessed to have Auds baking different cakes for us when birthdays come around. ☺️ Every time I post her cakes up, I get asked "which bakery is this cake from?" "Is your friend taking orders?".
Sad to say she isn't. But we're not giving up trying to convince her to. Haha.
This is matcha sponge cake with azuki beans layer in between and tofu cheesecake on the outercoat! ❤️
Also received a effortful handmade card (I MELTED AT THIS) and an extremely well thought out gift of Grab credits hahahaha so that I can save some money. 😭😭😭 Really got gan dong okay!!
Took a Grab to my Friday night dinner at Nosh and check this out!! So cute this Grab. Wait ah, finding driver… 😂👌🏻 okay la okay la I'll wait lor.
My friend was really thoughtful and he made reservations for 6.30pm so that I can take photos of this Instagram worthy place. Hahaha. 👍🏻 Full marks for effort.
Ordered two sides and one main to share. The steak and tuna poke were amazing but the scallops were a huge disappointment… $20 for 4 small overcooked scallops. No thanks. 😂
They gave us a small dessert for my birthday though. It's always nice when a restaurant throws in a little something for special occasions.
Ended my Friday night at ZL's after we caught a movie. Baby Driver wasn't half bad but he fell asleep towards the end. 😂😂 BUT. To be fair he caught it before already.
I think this is the second movie that we've watched together that he's watched before.. Cause we catch movies on our own with our friends too… Whenever I wanna do the same for him, he refuses, citing that I've already watched it before and he didn't want to put me through the same storyline. ☹️
Saturday started off slow…
We slept in and woke up around… 12 noon?
Waking up together is truly the best way to wake up. 😇
We had to change around our plans a little because the dinner place ran out of seats when he called to make reservations. So we decided on having just one meal (BUFFET!!!) that day and having dinner on my actual birthday.
I let him pick out my dress for the day and he chose Diya in black.
Okay, Diya in black it shall be! 👌🏻 The theme of the day was black and white sneakers so I made him wear black. Lolol. I am usually quite 😩😩😩 about wearing the same colours or anything remotely couple-y but I guess I was in the mood to that day.
Took a stroll around the MBS area before he brought me to where he planned to bring me.
I don't expect our weekends together to be planned usually. We are okay doing spontaneous stuff and we are also okay staying home sometimes. But I find it sweet that he gave extra thought as to where to go and what to do for my birthday. 😍
The weather was so fine that day… Clear blue skies, cloudy, with lots of sunshine beaming down on us.
And I have to say, the MBS area is hands down my favourite touristy place in SG. Everything is so nicely built up with just the perfect amount of greenery – if I were a tourist, I would be so damn impressed!!
We crossed over from the Bayfront station, and there was a viewing platform so we went up, and caught this breathtaking view. 🤗
Saturday's location – Gardens By The Bay!
I was really pleased because I've never been there for fun, only for photoshoot! Plus, it's air conditioned inside the domes. Hahaha.
Is it we twinning 😂😂😂
I wore my favourite pair of Keds while he wore his Converse.
It was good that we wore comfy shoes because there. was. so. much. walking.
I believe we clocked over 10,000 steps for that day. 😱 There was also a lot of walking on his birthday, I brought him to the Night Safari. Haha. Poor boy walked until the sole of his shoe fell off.
Look at all the 人山人海 IT WAS INSANE. So many people!! Mostly tourists, I reckon.
There was a National Day Promo so we got to enter both the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest at a discounted rate of $15 per person (I THINK). So lucky because we went on the first day of promo! 🎉
One of my fav corners with cacti and succulents! 🌵
Plants make me so happy. 🌿
I was trying to educate him.
"Babe these are hydrangeas! So pretty omg I love them"
"I know.. This one also hydrangea right"
….. Okay la. It looks somewhat like an engorged version of hydrangeas la….. 😂
He said this is his favourite part of the flower dome…… 😑
More #shitZLsays – "you should take a photo of this and caption 'beautiful Switzerland!'"
"These leaves look like those which people fry with salted egg yolk sauce."
Idk which is more entertaining, the rubbish he says or GBTB itself. 😂
GBTB was showcasing the different species of orchids, I suppose for National Day, since it's our National flower.
Dyou know that orchids are always bilaterally symmetrical no matter the species?? I never knew this interesting little fact!
These are so pretty!! 😍
It was just past 7pm when we went into the cloud forest…
And it looked so magical. ✨
Mesmerising lights reflected on the surface of the glass dome which I stared at for a bit.
We spent a good 3 hours at GBTB in total. It was a good workout. 😂👌🏻
I seem to be spending a lot of time around plants recently. LOL.
He sent me home early cause I had an early morning on Sunday. Pity I couldn't glue myself to him the entireeeee weekend cause we had work in between. 🙃🙃🙃
Sunday started off with an early shoot with my lovely TTR team…
Not part of my princess weekend because we were running around under the hot sun. I kept my princess crown at home. 😂 LOLOL.
The photos look soooo fab. I would go as far to say that it's our best lookbook so far.
Extremely psyched to show you guys the photos!! But not today. If I post them today… I won't ever be able to finish this entry. Hahaha.
After work I went over to ZL's place but he had some work to be completed.
So I… Watched him do work. Hahahaha. I literally stuck myself to him as he did his work, reading my kindle with my face resting on his legs. 😂😂 I'm sorry, sticky girlfriend is sticky. Must be glued to him at all times.
I gave up after some time and took a nap while he finished up his work.
We stayed at home till it was about 10pm.
28 crept around quietly and peacefully, with a slice of Starbucks cake and us two sitting at a waterfront.
My first few minutes of 28 wasn't loud, or ostentatious. The cake wasn't my first choice (he drove me to two different Starbucks but they both didn't have what I wanted) and there was no candle for me to blow out.
But I couldn't be happier. My heart couldn't be filled with more joy. I think I would be contented even without the cake. 😌❤️
Oh oh!! Remember he told me I could have a wish?
I told him I want to decide wholly on one place that both of us will travel to next year, and that he has no say in the activities I plan. 😂😂😂 I probably won't be so mean and will include him in the planning la but he can't say no to whatever I want him to do with me. 😈
He said "wa you really serious about the wish ah". HAHAHAHA. 🙄 Obviously right??
It's not everyday that I get my wish granted by a genie. LOL.
Monday started off with me feeling the effects of lacking sleep…
I tumbled out of bed wishing that I didn't book the tickets to the Yayoi Kusama exhibition for the 10am slot. 😂
ZL didn't manage to take leave for Monday so I had most of my birthday free to spend with my lovely girls. 💕
Have been wanting to check out National Gallery for the exhibition for some time and Monday seemed perfect.
Booked the tickets online so that we could skip the long queue!
I think I made the right outfit decision. 😂
Oooh forgot to add this in… My birthday morning was made instantly beautiful because I received this bouquet from @floralsactually just minutes before I left the house.
It was supposed to reach between 10-10.30am and I would have missed it. But I got lucky! ☺️
I showed him my flowers and this was what he said…….. 😂 #shitZLsays
Omg hahahahahah he actually knows about his hashtag. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I was damn shocked because I didn't tell him and I don't think he reads my dayre….? 😶
Or maybe his friend(s) told him. If you're his friend please stop exposing me pleaseeee. LOL.
OKAY BACK TO NATIONAL GALLERY.
I love these!!!! 😍
Thanks for spending the morning with me, girls! 🤗💕
I suppose you would have seen photos of the exhibition all over IG/dayre already so I shall not spam much.
It was good to visit on a Monday morning though. There was a crowd and there were queues but they were utterly bearable! Can't imagine going there on a weekend omg.
Spot me amongst the yellow and spots. 😂
I had fun blending in. Even my shoes, bag and earrings are black or black and white. 🐝
Here's a nice shot which @jessaiee took of me. ✨
Cute snap of @jongsy trying not to photobomb the other people. Hehe.
My favourite room, so many lights, so bright and colourful. 😍😍
Unfortunately we only got 20 seconds inside. TOO FAST. 😩
After National Gallery, I left to Fairmont to meet my friends @nakedglory and Lyds and was greeted by THIS.
I don't even know what to call this.
I was half amused and half bewildered. 😂😂😂
It's a vegetable bouquet….? I GUESS?
A+++ for trolling effort goes to my friends. LOLOL.
The most exotic and most creative bouquet I've ever received. 🌱
Am already planning out in my mind the creative bouquets I'm going to make them for theirs. 😈😈😈 *evil smile*
Lobster roll yummerzz. Obviously I've been eating very well for the past few days LOLOL.
All throughout lunch they kept dropping hints on post lunch activity. But they refused to tell me where we're going.
"Eat more you gonna need your energy for later!" "Huh you wearing heels ah?? Later maybe need to remove."
I kept trying to guess.
"Are we going hiking?!?" "Gmax??!!!!" "Omg I give up where are we going???"
This was the answer.
Hahahahaha. I was telling Yoko that this was actually a present for her instead of me. I obviously don't have the same level of pent up rage and angst like she does. 😂
This is what you see when you enter the door.
Before we start, we gotta put these gear on. 😎
They have overalls, boots, full face helmet and gloves to prevent you from dying. HAHAHA. It's pretty safe la. We didn't even get a single scratch from smashing all the glass bottles.
Yoko looking extremely elated about unleashing her inner (or maybe not so inner) beast. LOL.
So basically. You get to smash things at The Fragment Room to vent your anger. Or maybe you'll end up getting angrier when you fail to smash things. 😡😂
LOLOL DAS ME 😛
We had 30 minutes in the room to beat each other up. Lolol I kid. We had 30 minutes in an enclosed room to smash things however we like.
30 minutes seem short but boy, we were as smashed as the glass bottles after 30 minutes. There was aircon but it was so warm in the overalls!
Sorry @nakedglory I'm going to post this epic video here too. 😂😂😂😂
THIS IS GOLD. Please watch!!!!
Okay, can't deny that I had my fail moments too. But I think slomo made Yoko's fail x10000000 funnier. 😂
It was a smashin' good time at The Fragment Room!
Not sure if I would go back again because honestly I don't have a lot of frustration and anger but you can consider getting a lifetime membership, @nakedglory. Hahahah. Can also double up as a good workout sesh!!
It was really fun though, all in all. ☺️
We had some snacks and drinks at Overeasy, before my dinner which was also at Fullerton Bay.
And this Yoko went to tell the waiter "it's her birthday! Is there anything for the birthday girl?" 😩😩😩😩
And they came out with this waffle ice cream bowl topped with a sparkler candle + A LOUD BIRTHDAY SONG.
While they were singing, I was hiding my face in my hands. 😨 So paiseh. I never fancied being at the receiving end of birthday songs.
Thoughts which run through my mind when birthday songs happen. "Do I sing along??" "How should my expression be like??" "Omg why is the song neverending???"
"Oooooh look rainbow!"
"Wa got fighter jets also.. yknow how hard it was to arrange a rainbow and fighter jets for your birthday??"
Thereafter, ZL came to collect me for our dinner at Forlino!
Yuppppp. Monday was really non stop action for me.
I picked Forlino over The Edge because I don't think I can do a buffet justice + I've been hearing plenty of good things about Forlino. The view was also TDF even though I spent two hours before dinner looking at the same view. 😌
I don't think many people read my dayre for food reviews 😂👌🏻 so I'm not really gonna be talking about the food that much okay?
JUST KNOW THAT THE FOOD WAS PRETTY DAMN AMAZING.
This is the crispy pork belly & foie gras tagliatelle!
I LOVE THIS. Anything foie gras is love. 😍 The handmade pasta was really good and we both enjoyed this!
Speaking of pasta I was reminded of a convo I had with ZL just a few days earlier…
He had a culinary workshop and tried his hand at making pasta from scratch.
"So what's the difference between handmade pasta and store bought?"
"Er… Handmade pasta is tough."
"I think that means it's undercooked leh…? Hahahahahahaha."
I really laughed until I was breathless and clutching my sides okay???? Okay it doesn't seem half as funny now but we really couldn't stop laughing for a good 5 minutes at that.
Sea urchin with yuzu sauce. THIS WAS YUMMY!!
The citrus-y notes of the yuzu sauce balanced out the seafood flavour of the sea urchin really well.
But I enjoyed the other pasta more, because foie gras. 😋
"So how? This pasta tough? I think it's handmade. 😂"
I can be quite pesky sometimes too. Lol.
Oooooh. The hokkaido scallops with bone marrow were fabulous.
Stole this photo from ZL's phone because Samsung really does capture better photos in low light.
This was basically mojito in a panna cotta.
Really liked this! Almost went for this chocolate fondant cake but I think that would be too much after all that pasta. This was a welcoming and light dessert to end off the meal! ☺️
Found this strange photo in his phone. Because errr it doesn't seem to be focusing on anything?? 😂 like 没有重点 one leh.
And of course, a photo together to mark another birthday celebrated together.
Sorry guys, mr sticker man is out to say hi. Haha. Maybe one day you'll finally get to see his face here, but for now, just use your imagination okay? Lol.
We stayed up that night and he wished one last 'happy birthday' before midnight came around, just like how he did last year.
My year of being 27 has been amazing and so has turning 28.
I don't think I can ask for anything more in life.
