I'm so hooked onto this Netflix series.
Currently on season 2. It's been a long time since I was so enamoured with any series. It's especially intriguing since it's based on true historical events and it uncovers a less talked about crime syndicate in Singapore – drugs.
I had to stop myself from googling every bit of the story to see if it matches the history because then I'll stumble upon spoilers hahaha.
Please go watch it. I promise it's worth all the late nights!
I realised I haven't been talking about my Aug favs so I shall start with this. Hahahah. Narcos is one of my Aug favs for sure! So obsessed. 😍
Now I look forward to getting home every day because I have Narcos waiting for me. Woohoo.
That feeling when you put on a pair of old jeans and they feel half a size loose.
I haven't had the luxury of time to hit the gym or workout as often as before, so it definitely came as a surprise. Lol. I do try to watch my diet and make it clean whenever I have less time to burn off the calories, though. So I guess that's paying off! ☺️
I don't usually monitor and weigh myself regularly, because I never believe in the numbers reflected on the scale.
For me, it's always about how I look in the mirror, how I look on photos and how I feel in clothes. I use those as my weight gauge!
I know quite clearly how much allowance there should be when I put on certain pieces… So when they start getting tight(er) I know it's time to cut back on the unhealthy food.
Recently I've also been dragging @jongsy along on my evening runs. Getting healthy is always more fun when you force someone to do it with you. 🙃🙃🙃 Heheh.
I also stand firmly by the "80% diet, 20% workout" mantra.
Diet really plays such a big part when you're trying to lose weight! A few days of indulgence later, I feel a huge difference.
So I've been cutting back on unhealthy/junk/fast food. Junk food I still take, cause it's hard not to! 😩😩😩 But my willpower when it comes to fast food is quite strong. 💪🏻
I've been steering clear of fast food for so long that the recent few times I took them made me feel ill. Like literally.
The first time it happened was a few months back, I had pizza and right after that I feel nauseous and had a really bad headache which persisted for a few hours. I wasn't sure if it was the pizza cause that same day, I didn't take coffee. So it could have been due to that!
Then last week, I took half a nasi lemak burger and some fries. And the same thing happened to me. 🤢
So I googled "why does fast food make me feel sick" and it turns out that your body tends to "reject" fast food after you go through a period of clean eating.
Okay lor. That's it. I guess no more fast food for me if I can help it. I'll miss my mos burger though. ;(
Okay back to the topic of this post… 😂 I get distracted too easily. Lolol.
I have so many outfit favourites this month! Not sure if I've been saying this every month but for real hahaha August has seen me add too many pieces to my #TTR wardrobe.
Lavish Off Shoulder Dress in Navy Palm Print! 🌴
Aster Wrap Top in Mustard Florals!
My birthday dress – Brielle Fishtail Dress in Honey! 💛
I'm gonna be greedy and favourite the Dusty Crimson too. 🙃
Technically I wore this in July but it only launched in Aug. Hahaha.
Jenna Cocktail Dress in Saffron!
I'm still waiting for the next occasion to wear this dress out again. 😇
So many yellow outfits this month. 😂😂😂
How can I leave out my favourite Bondi pants? 😍
Okay last one, zhen de!
Gaia Ruffles Jumpsuit in Florals. ❤️❤️❤️ If I could only pick one piece to favourite, it's a tough fight between this and Brielle Fishtail Dress.
Okay it deserves another photo here. Just because it's so pretty!
We've already opened backorders for this gorgeous piece on site, hop over to join if you haven't gotten yourself a piece of this. ☺️
Actually, all the pieces I featured here are already on backorder. Heh.
Favourite shoes of August – this embroidered pair from the Keds X Rifle Paper Co!
It's so cute and girly, and goes so well with my white & denim outfits! I love pairing these with a plain dress as well. More versatile than I thought they would be!
Something I've been obsessed with in August..
These prints from Wonderwoodworld!
I've always loved seeing photos in physical instead of digital form.
They look so good sitting on my bookshelf and on ZL's shelf. ☺️ Now he can see my face every single day when he gets home. Hahahaha. 🙃
I'm already thinking of more quotes I can print at the back, for my Chiang Mai photos. 😂😂 Very extra, I know.
August was a month of good food so I shall be sharing some of those which I've enjoyed.
I've been to Overeasy a few times but none of their items made an impression on me. This time, I gave their sweet potato fries a go AND BOY, WERE THEY IMPRESSIVE. 😋😋😋 I will be going back for them really, really soon. Best sweet potato fries ever!! So light, so crispy and so perfectly seasoned.
The salad I got was pretty good too but next time I'll ask them to leave out the yucky mint leaves. 😂
Mmm, my uni pasta at Forlino's on my birthday was also really memorable. 😌
Discovered this gem at Platypus Kitchen when I had dinner with my pals last month!
I was quite bummed initially when I found out that they removed the lobster roll from their menu.. (WHYYYYYY 😩)
But I got over my disappointment pretty quickly. Lol. Was deliberating over which item to order from their signature gourmet bowls and decided on this Crustacean Bowl – butter poached boston lobster, uni creme, crab claw, Japonica rice, honey ponzu, caviar and grilled cheddar!
Sounds so damn bomb right???
😋😋😋 Tasted even better than it sounded, that's what I can say.
The truffle fries were also fantastic. Gonna be bringing ZL there some time this month!
Next up, beauty favs! 💄
I've long heard the many health and beauty benefits of manuka honey and recently I finally got a bottle for myself.
Attempted to make a habit of downing a cup of honey lemon water each morning but my body needed coffee to get started. So I bring a bottle of it to work instead. After I finish the honey, I leave the lemon slices inside and top it up with water to make lemon infused water! 🍋 Plus, I needed to use up all the lemons from our previous shoot.
This is the brand which I got, from NTUC.
Not the best grade of manuka honey around but I didn't wanna spend so much since I haven't tried it before. #commitmentissues 😂
Will probably get one with a higher UMF once this finishes.
Googled and found out that manuka honey is also good as a moisturising mask and for applying on acne because of it's anti-inflammatory properties! Will give it a go and update you guys on that. 👌🏻
I've been mildly obsessed with the idea of in-shower masks lately.
Some days I reach home late and don't have time to slap a mask on and wait 20 minutes. Some days I simply don't like having the sticky feeling on my skin and hair near the forehead. Some days I'm just lazy and don't wanna deal with a dripping sheet mask.
In-shower masks are such a stroke of genius!!
And I really, really like this one from P:rem.
So how this works is – you start with cleansing your face in the shower before using this. I use about 6-7 pumps to cover my entire face! The texture is very gooey and jelly-like, so I was initially worried that it would slide off my face while I go about my shower activities but it held on quite firmly.
The instructions are to leave this on for 10 minutes. So I take my time with shampooing, conditioning and all that jazz before washing this off. 🛁
The result was pretty immediate with this one. I felt like my skin was softer than usual and pores felt slightly cleaner as well. 😇
I do have a couple other in-shower masks so maybe I'll compile a post soon and share my thoughts.
Overall, super happy with this!!
I also carted out the blue ray sun gel with this but since it's being so well loved on #dayrebeauty already, I won't go into it.
My saviour for the aftermath of sleepless nights – Leaders Insolution Hydrogel Eye Therapy Patch! 😌
It's the first eye patch thingamajig that I've tried and took a liking to.
The others I've tried seem to give me this prickly sensation… And I feel so worried using those cause idk if they're gonna give me weird rashes/milia seeds/whatsoever.
This is a really good quick-fix for days I wake up with overly puffy eyes but I know I need to look presentable for a meeting/photoshoot/what-have-you. I'll put it on instead of my usual eye gel and the effects are instantaneous! ☺️
Already on my second pack of this, definitely a product which I'll be repurchasing many times over.
You can easily find this at Watsons/Guardian!
Next up I wanna share about this Cover Fx Custom Blot Drops for Oil Control! 💕
I got this thinking that the texture is watery but it turned out to resemble glue. 😂 Got a mild shock but oh well, as long as it works amirite?
I add a drop of this (trust me it's more than enough!) to my sunscreen or whatever base I'm using for that day, mix it together on the back of my hand and apply it just like how I normally apply my sunscreen.
Would say that this is a great product because it lived up to it's promise of oil control. My face was oily less quickly as compared to when I don't use this. This product gave me a extra couple of hours of non-shiny face, which is more than what I can ask for! 👌🏻
I'm still not a fan of the goopy texture but until I find something better, I'll stick to this.
Ooooh. I just went to read up and supposedly you can also wear this alone, under or over (no idea how that's gonna turn out 😶) makeup!
Mm. Looks like I got a bit more exploring to do for this!
Side note, I caved and carted out some #FentyBeauty! Yay yay can't wait to receive them!! 🎉
Okay I'm officially on a buying ban for the rest of this month. And maybe also next.
THIS LOOKS SO GOOD TOO.
But like a bit too bling for daily wear? Ugh idk.
The packaging and brand visuals are just amazing. Sigh sigh sigh.
The moment I opened this tub of goodness, I knew it was gonna land itself in my monthly favourites. 😍❤️
It's the Crabtree & Evelyn Citron and Coriander Body Sorbet. 🍋🌿
They were right to call it body sorbet. The texture is bouncy and jelly-like and so, so easily absorbed by the skin.
Lately my skin has been very dry, especially after hot showers, so this has been such a god sent. This is the first time I'm using a body lotion/cream/gel of any sort so religiously, because I hate the sticky feeling which most creams give. I wanna sink into my bed right after I bathe so most creams just don't do it for me.
This though, is perfect. ❤️
I've already used up 1/3 of the tub and will likely be getting another after this finishes!
The scent is absolutely DIVINE. Despite having "coriander" in it's name. It doesn't smell anything like coriander! It's a nice and subtle citrusy scent (I like cause it doesn't overpower my perfumes) and leaves a tingly minty feeling on my skin. Feels very refreshing to use!
I also wanna try other scents they have, eyeing the lavender espresso and the pear and magnolia next. 🙃
The only thing is, this lovely tub here is quite pricey.. $60 if I'm not wrong. 😩 The upside is, one tub can last for pretty long. It's 250g.
I have to say that it makes a really nice pampering treat though. Get it when you're in the mood to treat yourself! 😉
And ermmmmm. I have two other makeup products to share… But I forgot to bring them to the office to shoot so they'll have to wait till tomorrow. 😬
Here's my #ootd to end off the entry for tonight!
This soft and lovely wrap top which comes with subtle flare sleeves. 😍😍😍
I was telling @jongsy that majority of this week's items are not extremely photogenic but they are all minimalistic and wearable day to day styles.
I can so imagine wearing this wrap top in a multitude of ways.💭
We chose a soft and flowy fabric to bring out the wrap details. A very nice basic with a touch of femininity. ☺️ Comes in three colours! There's also a lovely shade of blush pink, and olive.
Back with my favs for Aug. This product is…
YOU GUESSED IT.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet is my favourite lipstick at the moment!
The colour is not extremely unique, in fact I would say I have plenty of colours which come close to it. 😬
BUT. The formula is so so so awesome. The texture is light, whipped and mousse-y and feels practically like nothing on the lips but it stays on forever.
And I mean forever. I don't have to touch up after food and drinks and I love that!!
Mine is shade 12, Beau brun.
I've bought lippies from Bourjois before but the others were either too pink/mauve for my liking. So I passed them on to @jongsy. Finally found a colour which I love!! So glad because this is honestly my holy grail now hehe. 😇
Not cheap for a drugstore lipstick but definitely worth your pennies!
It's been long since I've loved a lipstick this much. The last one was KVD but it's been replaced by this. Haha.
And to round up my favourites for August – The Jaclyn Hill Palette by Morphe!
My favourite eyeshadow palette in my makeup stash right now. And all thanks to @sweetpea for bringing it all the way from US back to SG for me! 🤗💕
If I could only keep one eyeshadow palette from my collection, there's no doubt that this is it.
I'm too lazy to swatch every single shade guys, there's 35 of them!!
These are my favourites from the palette.. I haven't had the chance to do bold looks so I've been sticking to the safe shades. Hahaha.
The pigmentation and formula is crazyyyy good. So smooth and buttery and a dream to blend.
The only bad thing about this is – I spend so long decide which colours to use each time I use it. 😂 But that's a good bad thing I suppose?
